Every home buyer has reasons for choosing to move to a particular city, town, or area. For some its proximity to a potential workplace, and for others it might be culture and diversity related. According to some stats, however, the quality of local schools is one of the primary determining factors for why home buyers choose a certain location; and luckily for anyone considering Bergen County, we’re known for having some of the state’s top-rated schools, both public and private.
Demarest, NJ
The lovely town of Demarest is where you’ll find the Northern Valley Regional High School District, New Jersey’s 2nd best school district, according to niche.com. With just over 2,000 students in grades PK and K-12, Northern Valley Regional High School District gets at A+ in Academics, Teachers, Clubs & Activities, and College Prep, and the 3 schools located within the district include Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest, Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan, and Northern Valley Central. According to a 2014 issue of New Jersey Monthly magazine, the 2 high schools mentioned above were recognized for being there 42nd and 55th-ranked public high schools out of 339 in the state.
Tenafly, NJ
The city of Tenafly is serviced by the Tenafly Public School District, which has 3,500+ students in grades PK through 12. Although it’s most recently ranked the 6th best school district in New Jersey, it remains one of the best in Bergen County. Academics, Teachers, and College Prep all received an A+ from niche.com, and Tenafly High School received a Blue Ribbon School Award by the U.S. Department of Education back in 2005, one of only 38 public high schools to be recognized with that award and the only school in New Jersey that year.
